It has been too long since we’ve had a decent outdoor all-American summer celebration. Finally, for the first time in three years, we can celebrate the Fourth of July the way it should be. And happily, the Westerville Ohio Independence Day Celebration on Monday will include us – Cardinal Pizza!
This is the sixtieth (60!) year that the Westerville Rotary Club is coordinating the festivities between the Police, Fire, Electric and Parks and Rec Departments.
Early in the morning, they are bringing back the 5k Walk/Run. After the race, they will launch a good old-fashioned Street Parade. Balloons, bands, babies all funnin’ in the sun. The theme this year was created by a six-year-old – cute kid named Oscar – who’ll be riding like royalty in the parade. The theme is “Star-Spangled and Strong.”
By the way, residents who attend the parade are asked to consider a donation for the local food pantry operated by WARM (Westerville Area Resource Ministry). The Grand Marshall this year is the former director, who will be surrounded by volunteers collecting donations. They are asking for canned goods, dry foods and donations by check – no cash please.
Starting at 5 pm at the Sports Complex you can enjoy a free concert headlining local bands SugarCreek and Long Play. And while you’re boogying, stop by our tent for slices. We will have cheese and pepperoni available. $3 a slice. We can only take cash, but fear not! There will be an ATM available on the grounds.
If you’re hankering for our signature specialties, you can order on-line, pay by card and have us deliver to the tent. That way you can hang out, rock out and pig out on our delicious pizza.
The Fireworks light up at 10:30 and the Sports Complex is the ideal spot to watch. So, plan on getting your pizza picnic together to enjoy the Fourth in Westerville Ohio!
